Tegan has been a part of our birth team at TBC since 2013. Her background, like so many others who participate in births here at TBC, tells the story of how she came to nursing in support of natural childbirth.
Tegan received her first degree in bio-psychology from the University of Vermont. After working in the area of research, behavioral modification and counseling, she decided to return to school to pursue nursing - her true passion. She obtained her Bachelors of Science in nursing (BSN) from the University of Nevada-Reno, and started out as a medical/telemetry nurse.
As a nursing student, she had a rotation in the hospital’s labor and delivery unit. Her clinical professor was a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM). It was through her that Tegan learned about the midwifery model of care and since that time has been an avid supporter of midwifery-assisted births.
Tegan, whose primary nursing job is at Kaiser South, shares this about coming to The Birth Center: “I was grateful to join the team at The Birth Center in October 2013. As a nurse at The Birth Center, I get the opportunity to provide individualized care and work one-on-one with families. Today, we are blessed to have choices of where we give birth. The Birth Center is a beautiful place to give birth and an amazing place to work!”
