Sage, who’s primary nursing job is as RN in the High Risk Maternity Unit at Sutter Medical Center, came to The Birth Center in 2016, as a new RN graduate where working on The Birth Center became her first RN work experience. We have appreciated her presence with us since that time.
As an undergraduate, she attended Dartmouth College where she completed a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences. While there, she had several internship experiences both at home and abroad that helped her discover midwifery and the power and wonder of childbirth.
She fell in love with the midwifery model of care, and the healthcare of women in general. This propelled her to complete a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania. While there, she trained as a doula, volunteered at the Philadelphia Alliance for Labor Support, and completed a senior capstone course in breastfeeding. As an RN I enjoys the diversity of maternity experience working on a High Risk Maternity unit and at the Birth Center.
Sage tells us, “The Birth Center feels like less like a job and more like a home. I am passionate about the kind of care The Birth Center provides and the enormous potential it has to affect women and families for good. I believe caring for women is the great work of this century and I feel privileged to be a part of it!”
